The ruthless beating of a school girl in a public park, witnessed by numerous bystanders, will result in punishments for all involved.
The disciplinary council at Tran Nhan Tong High School, where the involved parties are studying, has determined punishment for their actions on March 17.
Vu Ngoc Diep, responsible for the fight, and Chu Minh Huyen, who filmed the beating, are both on their last strike. If they violate any rules for one year they will be expelled from school.
Accordingly, for one year, they need to send the school’s leaders a weekly report on the wrong things and the right things they did. The reports must be verified by their parents.
All other students who knew and witnessed the beating without reporting to authorities or school and who posted the video clip of the beating on the school’s forum, will also be warned in front of the entire school and observed closely by the school for one year. Their behaviour ranking has been lowered.
Nguyen Thanh Son, Head of Tran Nhan Tong said: “It’s very difficult for us to decide the punishment for the students because if we expel them from school, their future will be ruined. At the same time, if the punishment is not heavy, they will not learn from their mistakes. Our purpose is to make them aware of their wrong deeds and warn other students. I think the youth union should have a forum to raise awareness among students about morality and lifestyle.”
