According to dozens of households in Tho Vuc Village, Hoa Kien Commune, the rubbish in the dump normally rolls down and pollutes the stream at noon and by the afternoon, the water in Cay Sanh stream turns completely black with scum on the surface and at shallow places, the water looks red.

Le Thi T., a local shared, "The pollution has happened several times and every time, the authorities come down to write reports and the company promises to resolve the problem. But nothing's changed. This has caused problems for the people here, especially for the poor families."

The locals are also angry because when the authorities arrived, they did not take the water sample right away but waited for two hours. At that time the water from upstream had 'cleaned' the pollution.

Bui Thai Long, Chairman of Hoa Kien Commune People's Committee said, "When we arrived, the water was black with scum on the surface and we wrote reports and ordered the company to deal with the pollution. We'll ask for help from Tuy Hoa City People's Committee to solve the case completely."

Le Khac Linh, foreman of Phu Yen Company's waste management enterprise said that recently, because of the high amount of rubbish and the carelessness of workers, the waste water had overflowed and run down to the stream. They claimed they were trying to deal with the problem as quickly as possible.

Previously on April 5, hundreds of people in Tho Vuc Village blocked rubbish trucks and ordered Phu Yen Company to clean up the environment. The waste dump managers also promised to deal with the problem as quickly as possible.
