The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affair of Kon Tum Province will speed up rice delivery to needy families in the province.

Many places in Thanh Hoa Province did not closely follow government policy during hunger relief before Tet

The Department said on May 11 that they were coordinating with Central Highlands based General Department of State Reserves, the People’s Committees of 8 districts and Kon Tum City to complete their mission before May 15, 2010.

Earlier, the People’s Committee of Kon Tum province issued Decision No. 394 to deliver 1,000 tonnes of rice as part of the programmes hoping to provide relief for impoverished families in 9 districts of the city and the province. Each family received 15kg of rice per person.

The rice came from 2,000 tonnes of rice which was provided by the Government to Kon Tum Province during the period of Tet and the non-harvest season of this year.

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa Province also decided to distribute 3,000 tonnes of rice from the Government to rescue local people from hunger during the non-harvest period.

Earlier, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa Province decided on March 30, 2010 to provide over 600 tonnes of rice to nearly 2,400 families in Muong Lat District for 3 months. Each family received 15kg of rice per person.
