Red sand has blanketed a coastal street in the southern central province of Binh Thuan’s Phan Thiet City.
Following heavy rains over the recent days, red sand from hills opposite to Tien Thanh Beach has flooded part of Lac Long Quan Street since Sunday afternoon.

The sand has even damaged a nearby concrete bridge.
Some sections of Lac Long Quan Street were even submerged by 20 centimetres of sand, blocking traffic. Meanwhile, at least 10 houses in Tien Phu Village were also hit. Local authorities are helping them clear sand.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting forecasted that Binh Thuan would continue facing rain in some days to come with a highest rainfall of 80 mm. This would pose more red sand risks.
Several local residents said that the red sand covered their area within just a short period of time. Luckily, they were warned in advance, so they had made preparations.
