
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the cold front will blanket northern provinces and the north central coast with temperatures in the mountainous areas could drop to below two degrees and even down to zero degrees Celsius in some places.
Hanoi will start experiencing the cold weather accompanied by light rains from Sunday, with temperatures swinging between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius. The temperatures are forecast to continue to plunge to 11 degrees Celsius next week.
Meanwhile, northern mountainous areas can see temperatures fall to below six degrees Celsius at night between January 21 and 27. Some mountaintops may see snowfall, thunderstorms and hail.
The Gulf of Tonkin and the northern part of the East Sea will see strong wind and high waves of up to five metres on Sunday.
