The event was held as part of activities to mark Vietnam Fisheries Day on April 1. It aimed to raise public awareness of legal regulations on aquatic resources and the role of resource preservation for sustainable fisheries.


Speaking at the event, the Head of Bac Lieu Fisheries Sub-department, Nguyen Hoang Xuan, said that they released over six million shrimp seeds at the sea in Nha Mat Ward. The seeds were donated by enterprises and organisations from the province and elsewhere.

"This activity helps raise people's awareness on protecting natural resources and environment," he said.

The same day, the neighbouring province of Soc Trang also released three million shrimp seeds and 10,000 crab seeds into the local sea at the Tran De Fish Port.

According to the Head of Soc Trang Provincial Fisheries Sub-department, Quach Thi Thanh Binh, the seeds were donated by local organisations and individuals.
