Although this area is being overloaded with trash, the local authority has been unable to find the culprit.
During the past two weeks, people in Thu Duc University Village in Dong Hoa Commune, Di An District, Binh Duong Province wake up each morning and find more and more large trash dumps.
Nguyen Thanh Son, a local said, “Every early morning, I find the trash dump at the bus station has much more garbage than previously. There is a group of people going there to pick up trash.”
Trash is piled up not only at the bus station but also at other areas such as the place which is near the International University or the stone mine.
On September 24, about five trash trucks loaded garbage in front of the Guest House of the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking to DTiNews, Ho Duc Thinh, a security guard of the Guest House said, “The disposal area is a majority of industrial waste.”
According to Thinh, the waste was probably dumped there at 1-2am.
Although all routes leading to the university village have guarding stations, no one seems to know how the hundreds of tonnes of trash can be transported into the village like this without being noticed.
Regarding this issue, Pham Khac Hoc, vice manager of the Police Department of Dong Hoa Commune said, “Irresponsibility of the guarding force is the main cause for this issue. We will strengthen the inspection of vehicles entering university village in a bid to discover and prevent the culprit(s) as well as impose appropriate punishments to those who deliberately damaged the environment.”
