During morning rush hours, Dantri reporters recorded widespread violations on Pham Ngoc Thach Street in Dong Da District, where dozens of riders moved in the wrong direction in a steady stream.

On Nguyen Ngoc Vu Street, many ignored traffic signs altogether. Similar scenes unfolded at the junction of La Thanh and Nguyen Chi Thanh, where each red light cycle saw a wave of vehicles breaking the law.

Riders often reverse course only when traffic officers appear.

On Khuong Thuong Street, motorbikes travelled the wrong way towards the Tay Son–Thai Thinh junction, endangering others.

Riding against traffic has become commonplace in the Old Quarter despite prominent signage and barriers.

At the Khuat Duy Tien-Nguyen Trai intersection in Thanh Xuan District, long lines of motorbikes frequently cut through oncoming traffic, posing a constant risk of collision.

Some even mount pavements to bypass congestion, putting pedestrians at risk. Nguyen Thuy Ngan, a local resident, said she often has to step aside during peak hours to avoid illegally driven motorbikes.
“Many people lack awareness,” she said. “As soon as traffic officers leave, the violations return. I hope authorities take stronger action to stop this dangerous behaviour.”
