President Sulyok will be in Vietnam from May 27 to 29. This is his first official visit to the country since assuming office in March 2024.

His visit to Hanoi, just over a year into his presidency, reflects Hungary's commitment to strengthening its comprehensive partnership with Vietnam.

The countries established diplomatic relations on February 3, 1950. Hungary has long supported Vietnam's development.

President Luong Cuong invited President Sulyok to review the Vietnam People's Army Guard of Honour.

The visit is especially significant as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Hungary (1950-2025).

The two leaders posed for a commemorative photo in the presidential palace's grand hall before proceeding to official talks.

Hungary was among the first countries to recognise and establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Over the past 75 years, the bilateral relationship has progressed through numerous milestones.

Hungary currently offers 200 scholarships yearly to Vietnamese students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies, making it the largest scholarship provider to Vietnamese students in Central and Eastern Europe.

President Sulyok is also expected to meet with other top Vietnamese leaders during his visit.
