Tens of thousands of people have flocked to the airport and bus stations in HCM City to return their hometowns for Tet after finishing their work on the afternoon of January 27.

Overcrowding at Mien Dong bus station
In the afternoon almost all ways leading to the Mien Dong Bus Station were clogged with traffic. Motorbike drivers were lined up for their turns to park and say farewell to their relatives and friends.
In the meantime, an increasing flow of passengers continued to rush into the bus station. All chairs and benches in waiting rooms were full, forcing many to take a rest on the floor.
Hundreds of passengers also had to line up to check their tickets before boarding.
Many people who come from places far from the metropolis went early to the bus station in order to ensure they got their bus and were able to get home as soon as possible.
On the same day, thousands of people waited at Tan Son Nhat Airport in order to check in for flights to go back to their homes for Tet.
Overbooking was recorded at all airlines, especially Vietnam Airlines. People surrounded Vietnam Airlines’ check-in counters and many had to stand for long periods to check their luggage.
Space on the first floor for domestic flights departure area was overcrowded and many people had to sit on the floor.
An anonymous representative from the airport said there were around 31,000 passengers at the airport on January 27.
