HCM City opens new 14,000-square-metre bus terminal

Ho Chi Minh City has put into operation the Le Minh Xuan Bus Terminal, covering nearly 14,000 square metres, making it the largest bus terminal on the city’s outskirts to date.

Located on Vo Huu Loi Street in Binh Loi Commune, the terminal officially began operations on December 16, according to the HCM City Public Transport Management Centre, the project’s investor.

Construction started in 2023, with total investment of VND 69.9 billion (USD 2.7 million). The facility spans 13,993 square metres and can accommodate up to 51 buses, helping meet parking demand.

The terminal has been built with synchronised facilities, including parking areas, internal roads, passenger pick-up points, shelters and rest areas for drivers.

Initially, bus routes 22, 61 and 73 have been relocated to the terminal to establish fixed starting and ending points, serving residents and workers in the Le Minh Xuan Industrial Park and surrounding areas.

In August, the Hoc Mon Bus Terminal, covering more than 10,000 square metres, was inaugurated and previously held the title of the largest suburban bus terminal in the city.

The transport authority said the consecutive openings of the Hoc Mon and Le Minh Xuan terminals reflect efforts to upgrade public transport infrastructure and better meet residents’ travel needs.

The city will continue reviewing and adjusting the bus network, with plans to add more connecting routes to gradually develop the Le Minh Xuan Bus Terminal into a public transport hub for western Ho Chi Minh City.
