According to the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs, nearly 3,200 companies in the city have reported their Lunar New Year or Tet bonus plans.
Average Tet bonuses stood at VND 3.92 million per employee, with payouts ranging from VND 800,000 at joint-stock companies with majority state ownership to a high of VND 614 million in the private sector.
The top bonus this year nearly doubled from VND 311 million recorded during the previous 2025 Lunar New Year.

Hanoi sees highest 2026 Tet bonus exceed VND 600 million
Foreign-invested firms posted the highest average bonus at VND 4.5 million per employee, followed by the private domestic sector at VND 4 million, state-majority joint-stock companies at VND 3.7 million and wholly state-owned enterprises at VND 3.5 million.
Compared with last year, average bonuses rose by about VND 200,000-400,000, depending on the sector.
In 2025, the highest monthly salary was recorded in the private domestic sector at VND 230 million, followed by foreign-invested firms at VND 225 million, the data showed.
State-owned enterprises and joint-stock companies with majority state ownership posted top monthly salaries of VND 46.5 million and VND 45 million, respectively.
At the lower end, monthly pay across sectors ranged from VND 5.5 million to VND 6.6 million per employee.
