Hanoi authorities have issued an anti-illiteracy and educational development plan which aims to reach national standards on anti-illiteracy in all districts and communes.

The VND34 billion or USD1.6 million plan will be carried out from 2011 to 2015, in two phases.

Under this plan, 100 percent of classrooms for pre-school students will be upgraded.

The capital city also targets to popularise primary and junior secondary education to children at the school age; to have 50 percent of schools and 100 percent of teachers satisfying national criteria by 2015.
