Hanoi nursery schools expected to reopen from March

Hanoi plans to reopen nursery schools from March 1 despite a sharp increase in Covid-19 infections.

Hanoi plans to reopen nursery schools from March 1 despite a sharp increase in Covid-19 infections.

The information was given by Hanoi People’s Committee Vice-chairman Chu Xuan Dung at an online meeting with representatives from local districts, towns and communes on Covid-19 prevention and control on Thursday.

According to Dung, the city has allowed primary schools in suburban districts and towns to organise in-person classes from February 10. Meanwhile, students from grades 1 to 6 in all 12 inner-city districts of Hanoi will be permitted to return to school from February 21.

Hanoi is witnessing a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases, but the situation has still been kept under control, Dung added.

The municipal Department of Education and Training has been assigned to submit proposals on the nursery school reopening, focusing on solutions to ensure safety for children.

Localities need to closely work with schools for Covid-19 prevention and control measures.
