A Hanoi man has been fined VND1.33 billion (USD54,285) for illicit sand excavating on the Da River section which runs through the northern province of Phu Tho.
An Van Minh, 60, who lives in Ba Vi District’s Khanh Thuong Commune extracted 131 cubic metres of sand from the Da River without being licensed.
According to the Phu Tho People’s Committee, the boat which was used by Minh was not registered.
Under the government’s regulations on administrative fines, Phu Tho’s authorities issued a fine of VND1.33 billion to Minh and also required him to return the 131 cubic metres of illegally extracted sand to the Da River.
If Minh fails to comply with the penalty in the regulated time, enforcement will be applied.
