Local authorities in the central province of Ha Tinh's Ky Anh Town are investigating the mass deaths of 25 hectares of coastal protective forest in the area.

Ha Tinh protective forest begins to die
According to local authorities, the coastal forest was planted in 1994 on a total area of 43 hectares in Ky Ha Commune with an aim to stimulate the marine ecosystem, prevent erosion, and protect the Hai Ha Thu sea dyke.
However, about 60 percent or 25 hectares of the forest suddenly died last week and the situation is continuing. The trees used to grow very well and local people are very worried about their sudden deaths.
Head of Ky Anh Town Forest Ranger, Dao Duc Giang said that after receiving information about the dying forest, they have co-operated with concerned agencies to investigate the causes.
