French singer Kad Achouri will wow fans on November 15 at the French Cultural Centre L’Espace in Hanoi.
Influenced by Serge Gainsbourg, Cohen and Rimbaud, Achouri will perform songs based on stories, trips and his origin accompanied by piano, contrabass, guitar or bandoneon.
The Spanish-Algerian was born in the South of France in 1969 and is fluent in French, Algerian, Spanish and Berber.
He lived in Barcelona and listened to jazz for five years before coming to London in 1993 to study music and to make a living playing the piano in bars. He began composing music from 1998 and has released 10 singles.
Achouri’s lyrics are said to be more profound and serene than countryman and hip hop singer Manu Chao.
Achouri was named ‘Young Talent of Midem-International Music Fair’ at Cannes in 2002.
Tickets for the gig at 8 p.m. at 24 Trang Tien Street are priced at VND100,000 and VND50,000 for L’Espace members.
