Deputy head of the Quang Binh District People's Committee Office, Hoang Van Phuong, told Dantri/DTiNews on Thursday morning that the incident occurred at around 4am in Ta Ngao Village, Tan Trinh Commune.
"Four people in a family including a two-year-old child were stabbed to death and one was seriously injured at their houses," Phuong said.
"The killer was identified as Phu Minh Tuan, 32, and the four victims were his father, aunt, niece and a cousin," he confirmed. "Tuan was detained at the site and has been transferred to police."
Phuong also said that Tuan had mental problems and had just been discharged from hospital for over three months. He also killed his baby some years ago.
