The school site covers 1,036 square metres with five rooms, including three classrooms for 100 children, and one kitchen. The VND5.5 billion (USD237,068) project took three months to construct.
At the ground-breaking ceremony, the chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga said that the facility highlights the need to cut plastic waste and protect the environment.
Hoang Giang, vice chairwoman of Lao Cai Party Secretary expressed her great thanks to the project’s donors. She hoped that Lao Cai would receive support to build more schools using recycled plastics.
The Ministry of Education and Training also gave 7,000 filtered water bottles for schools in Lao Cai at the event.
