At the hospital, which was built after President Fidel Castro's visit to the region in 1973, the Cuban delegation laid a wreath at Fidel Castro monument. They then visited and gave gifts to child patients at the pediatric ward, and met with the hospital's medical staff and doctors.

Speaking with Quang Binh leaders and staff from the hospital, the Cuban leader stressed that the hospital was a permanent symbol of the bilateral friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba. He expressed happiness in witnessing positive economic changes and improving social standards and quality of life in Vietnam, particularly Quang Binh.

Welcoming the Cuban delegation, Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee Vu Dai Thang expressed thanks for Cuba’s assistance and support for the province during the difficult wartime.

"We'll continue to educate the young generation about the cooperation and friendship between the Parties, States, and people of Vietnam and Cuba," Thang said. "We hopes that Cuba will continue sending experts to work at the hospital and other projects in Vietnam."
