The treatment fees for the pilot have reached around VND3.5 billion (USD152,173)
According to head of the Health Ministry's Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Luong Ngoc Khue, the pilot, who is the most critical Covid-19 case in Vietnam, has continued witnessing the great health improvement.
He now can sit by himself and understand what doctors say. He also can adjust the height of his bed, which really surprises doctors.
Doctors were even very pessimistic about his condition, and his progress is extremely out of their expectations, Khue added.
He is expected to stop the reliance on the ventilator soon. Around 60% of his lungs have recovered.
The pilot has undergone the 83-day treatment process, which is the longest Covid-19 case in Vietnam.
Earlier, Prof. Tran Binh Giang, Director of Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi, said that the pilot was expected not to undergo a lung transplant as his condition had continued to improve.
