Vietnam’s central region is experiencing heavy rains with rainfall of up to 300 mm, posing flooding risks for many areas.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from today, October 11, rains have started ravaging localities from Ha Tinh to Danang and then spread to other localities.

In the next two days, rainfall would reach 60-120mm and even 150-300mm in Quang Tri Province.

Localities from Nghe An to Thua Thien-Hue have been warned of heavy rains until October 14. They would face a high risk of flash floods and landslides.

Urban areas in the central region would also be submerged during the rainy front.

From October 12, rains would expand in the northern region and Thanh Hoa.

Meanwhile, the northern region is witnessing a light cold spell with lowest temperatures of below 16 degrees centigrade in some mountainous areas.

The National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has asked localities from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai to take preventive measures against flash flooding and landslide risks, including the relocation of people.
