The incident occurred at 4.45 pm on September 9 in Yen Chau District's Met Sai Village, frightening local people.
Initial investigations showed that the bridge collapse was caused by a landslide triggered by torrential heavy rains over the past three days. Luckily there were no injuries in the accident.
According to local authorities, the bridge had just been built by an investor in a hydro-power plant. The project was waiting for acceptance.
Many northern regions have been facing heavy rains which have led to serious flooding in Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa. It is forecasted that heavy rain will last until September 12.
