The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre will invest VND13 trillion (USD546.21 million) to carry out the first phase of a coastal road in the 2023-2025 period.

According to Cao Minh Duc, director of the provincial department, the project will cross the Tien, Ham Luong, and Co Chien rivers.

The road starts from Road 877B in Tan Phu Dong District in Tien Giang and ends at Thanh Phu Bridge in Tra Vinh’s Chau Thanh District. The project will use ODA and the reciprocal capital from the province.

In the first phase, the road will be around 12 metres wide and have 13 bridges on it. In the second phase scheduled to be implemented after 2025, an additional investment capital of VND15.5 trillion will be poured to expand the road to 100 metres wide.

The road is part of a 740-kilometre coastal road project in the Southwestern region approved by the government 13 years ago. The project goes through the seven Mekong Delta region of Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, and Kien Giang.
