Bamboo Airways reports highest on-time performance

A newly-released report from CAAV showed that local airlines operated a total of 281,629 flights in 2023, with an on-time performance (OTP) of 84.50 percent as compared to the 89.60 percent recorded in 2022.

Bamboo Airways had the highest number of on-time flights in 2023 with over 92 percent, followed by VASCO, Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vietravel.

VietJet Air operated the largest number of flights during the year with 108,786, followed by Vietnam Airlines with 103,261, Bamboo Airways with 38,605 Pacific Airlines with 19,127, VASCO with 6,112, and Vietravel with 5,738.

According to CAAV, the number of delayed flights was higher in December compared to previous months as airlines increased frequency and routes to meet the rising demand in the year-end travel season.

A total of 20,950 flights were conducted in December including 8,821 operated by Vietnam Airlines, 8,737 by VietJet Air, and 1,773 by Bamboo Airways, CAAV said, adding that 20.60 percent of those faced delays. VietJet Air had the highest number of delayed flights this month with 30.20 percent, followed by Pacific Airlines at 18.90 percent, Vietnam Airlines 15 percent, Vietravel Airlines 14.20 percent, and Bamboo Airways 9.20 percent.

As Vietnam’s peak travel season is approaching due to the Tet Lunar New Year, CAAV has ordered airlines to work with airports across the country to be clear about their Tet plans, particularly those on the increase of night flights and arrangement of aircraft fleet and human resources to serve passengers better.

It will increase the allocation of runway slots to 40 per hour from 6 am to 11.55 pm at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi 44 from 6 am to 11.55 pm and 40 from midnight to 5.55 am at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City during January 25-February 25.
