Anonymous suspects Vietnamese hackers attempted attack

A group of Vietnamese hackers have been said to be behind the attack on the sever of the hacker group Anonymous.

Phisher suspects the attack came from New Kings group

On November 18, the hacker group Anonymous was carrying out a cyberattack on Islamic State websites following the attacks in Paris, when suddenly their web chat was taken down. Their main server also encountered a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack which seeks to overload a server by sending a large number of requests.

At first, the Anonymous members on Twitter suggested that they might be under attack by hackers that support IS. However, a group member nicknamed Phisher, tweeted that he had previously exposed private information about a Vietnamese group called New Kings so this was one possible motive for the badly timed attack on Anonymous.

Phisher said he had information of the group members who attacked them including Facebook address, name, alias and even photos. He said he was considering publicising the information so authorities could arrest the group.

The web chat of Anonymous group returned to normal and there's no official confirmation whether they were attacked by Vietnamese group.

The attack by the Vietnamese group apparently had no link to the earlier attack by Anonymous on Vietnamese government websites in September this year.
