Eighty Vietnamese and foreign athletes are expected to take part in the Fansipan Mountain Climbing tournament 2011 scheduled for December 17-19.
The tournament is part of a tourism programme co-organised by the northern provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Phu Tho.
They will climb up from Tram Ton to Mount Fansipan and then return to Tram Ton.
The organizers said that Sapa will also host a number of cultural and sports activities for both tourists and guests from eight northwestern provinces to attend a conference on local tourism cooperation.
