Police in the central province of Quang Tri seize a 200-kilo tiger which was found in a car on January 22.
According to a report from Dakrong District Police Department, they stopped a car which was running on the National Road 9 in Huong Hiep District at 7.20 pm for a check. The driver, however, did not stop but sped up. The police chased the car and managed to stop it and found a live tiger kept in an iron cage inside.
The driver, Le Duy The, 43, told the police that he was hired to transport the tiger from Quang Binh to Quang Tri provinces and was paid VND3 million for the transportation.
The has been detained for illegally transporting rare critically-endangered animals.
Meanwhile, the tiger has been sent to the Vinpearl River Safari Nam Hoi A while police are further investigating the case.
