The fishing boats will be brought to the De Gi area in Phu Cat District. Roughly 800 out of the boats are small in size, measuring less than 12 metres.
Fishing boats in Quy Nhon City
The province has set a target to finish the fishing boat relocation to the De Gi area by the end of 2025. After 2025, fishing boats will be moved to My Thanh Fishing Port in Phu My District.
However many fishing boat owners have opposed the relocation plan as De Gi is quite far from their homes, making it inconvenient and costly for them.
According to a presentative from the provincial Department of Agricultural and Rural Development, this is a major plan so the local authorities need to have a suitable roadmap for implementation. For instance, the relocation should be prioritised in Quy Nhon Fishing Port which is overcrowded and polluted.
It is also necessary to consider support for local fishermen whose boats are relocated.
