Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang review the guard of honour at the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 in Hanoi on December 19.
The exhibition will be held on a total area of over 100,000 square metres with both indoor and outdoor exhibition zones at Gia Lam Airport on the outskirts of Hanoi from December 19-22 as part of the activities to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA).
The event, hosted by the Ministry of Defence, aims to share achievements and experiences in researching, producing, and using weapons and equipment and promote co-operation among participating countries in the defence industry.
Within the exhibition's framework, exchange programmes will be arranged to promote collaboration between agencies, units, and enterprises, as well as among enterprises themselves, thematic workshops on military technology, and activities showcasing achievements in defence co-operation.
The opening ceremony featured performances by 2,000 VPA officers and soldiers. It will also feature impressive demonstrations by the air force, the special forces, the honour guard, military service dogs, and other units.
Notably, many new military equipment and weaponry will be introduced, including military training and TP-150 patrol aircraft, developed and produced by Vietnam's defence industry for the first time.
