Legendary overseas Vietnamese singer Khanh Ly has to apply for a new license for performing in the country as her original permit expired in December, an official has confirmed.
Nguyen Thanh Nhan from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Department of Performing Arts, confirmed the ruling to DTiNews.
“Dong Dao Entertainment Ltd. Company recently asked the department to issue a new license for Khanh Ly to perform in Vietnam. The agency is now considering and waiting for the ministry’s opinion on the matter,” Nhan said.
According to the official, it would be not difficult for Khanh Ly to obtain a new license as she had already been granted one last year. However, the ministry was more likely to be interested in turning its beady eye on the song list for her tour.
Khanh Ly’s license expired last month, so she is now obliged to make another application before returning to Vietnam for her first domestic appearance in over 30 years.
Under the original license issued in September 2012, Khanh Ly planned to sing at four events in Hanoi, Danang and HCM City.
The tour, would have featured major artists such as Elvis Phuong, Tuan Ngoc and Ha Anh Tuan.
Khanh Ly’s performance in Vietnam this year still uncertain
