Hayat Vax is produced in the United Arab Emirates and has been tested on adults with an efficacy of 79%. The second dose will be given 14 days after the first one.
The ministry said that the Hayat-Vax vaccine was approved based on the documents showing its quality and effects sent by the Vimedimex Pharmaceutical JSC.
Vimedimex Pharmaceutical JSC has been asked to work with relevant agencies to assess the safety standard of the vaccine and the quality of each batch when being imported to Vietnam.
The use of Hayat -Vax vaccine must be instructed by the Ministry of Health.
Vimedimex Pharmaceutical JSC will be responsible for updating information about the vaccines as well as co-operating with the vaccine producers to get the vaccine following orders by the ministry.
Before Hayat-Vax, Vietnam had approved six Covid-19 vaccines including AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Vero Cell and Sputnik V. The four vaccines that are currently included in free vaccination programmes are AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer and Vero Cell.
The country has so far conducted over 24.78 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 4.18 million people having received two doses.
