Two people missing after truck fell into Thua Thien Hue river

Rescue forces in Thua Thien-Hue Province are searching for two people who went missing after a garbage truck fell off the Binh Thanh suspension bridge into the Huu Trach River on Thursday morning.

 Two people go missing after a garbage truck fell off the Binh Thanh suspension bridge into the Huu Trach River in Thua Thien-Hue Province on November 21.

Reports from local authorities said that the accident occurred at 7.15 on November 21 when the truck suddenly crashed into the bridge barrier and then fell into the river.

The truck sank shortly after and a metal bridge barrier of nealy one metre long also fell into the river.

 Rescue forces were immediately sent to the site to search for the two people on the truck. However, the search has faced challenges due to rising flood water on the river.

Rescue forces look for the two missing people.

As the rescue workers found the truck in the river bed, they found no one in the cabin.

Vice Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People's Committee, Phan Quy Phuong, arrived at the site to direct the rescue work.

According to the official, the missing people are two male workers aged 58 and 27 of the Hue Urban Environment and Public Works Joint Stock Company.

The Binh Thanh suspension bridge is 140 metres long and four metres wide, connecting National Road 49 and Binh Thanh Commune. The bridge has a load capacity of 18 tonnes and has faced deterioration due to old age.
