The national football team will convene for training in Hanoi on September 5, while U-23 squad will be at the Thanh Long sports and physical training centre in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the AFF Cup and Asian Games at the end of this year.
Under leadership of Portuguese chief coach Henrique Calisto, the national team will take part in a friendly match at My Dinh stadium to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi. Mr Calisto said that he will select the most outstanding athletes for the team to defend the championship title at the 2010 AFF Cup.
The U-23 squad is expected to achieve good results at the Asian Games in November although it could not win the recent 25th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
