Hundreds of wild animal traps found in Son Tra

Around 700 wild animal traps were found on the Son Tra Peninsula in the central city of Danang in the first nine months of this year, according to the Danang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Around 700 wild animal traps were found on the Son Tra Peninsula in the central city of Danang in the first nine months of this year, according to the Danang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The traps were detected during 84 patrols of the peninsula conducted by the local forest management force.

During the January-September period, the forest rangers destroyed two illegal tents and rescued some wild animals, including those trapped.

Local authorities also detected forestry management violations and issued fines of VND35 million (USD1,458).

Service providers in Son Tra have been required to sign commitments on forest and wild animal protection.

Son Tra Peninsula is a popular tourist destination in Danang. It can receive up to 1,000 tourists a day. The locality has eight forest rangers who are responsible for managing 3,791 hectares of forest.
