Residents in Hoa Vang District have raised concerns about ongoing erosion around the clay mine in An Chau Village, Hoa Phu Commune, which has long impacted their farming production.
Hiep Dai Hung Company was licensed to operate the clay mine; however, its mining activities have impacted tens of thousands of square metres of agricultural land, rendering thousands of square metres unusable for farming.
The situation has worsened following recent heavy rainy spells.
Affected residents have requested the company to address the issue, but no action has been taken. Since the mining license expired in June last year, the area remains unrestored, and residents have yet to receive any support or compensation from the firm.
According to the Danang Department of Natural Resources and Environment, after the licence expired, the company submitted a closure plan for the mine to local authorities, which is still under consideration.
Meanwhile, the approval for the mine closure plan is pending, and the firm has been instructed to take measures to prevent further erosion and ensure there are no threats to the safety of the power grid.
The department has requested the installation of warning signs to keep people and vehicles away from dangerous spots.
