Quang Ninh, Haiphong offer typhoon aid package to other localities

Quang Ninh Province and Haiphong City in the northern region of Vietnam have refused governmental financial support of VND100 billion (USD4.03 million) and offered it to other localities also hit by Typhoon Yagi.

According to Quang Ninh and Haiphong authorities, the typhoon severely affected the two, but many other localities are even more challenging.

When assistance is required, the two localities will ask the government for consideration.

The government has also provided VND20 billion to Nam Dinh, VND30 billion to Thai Binh, VND20 billion to Hai Duong and Yen Bai respectively and VND10 billion to Hung Yen following the storm.

Localities have been requested to use the support effectively.

As of 6 pm on September 10, as many as 127 people had been killed and 54 others remained missing due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi, flood and landslides in the northern region.
