A VND1.7 trillion (USD69.38 million) waste-to-energy project in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has been put into use.
The plant covering 11.23 hectares in Phu Son Commune in Huong Thuy District can treat 600 tonnes of waste daily to general 12MW of electricity per hour.
Work on the project was started in 2021. The plant collects waste in Hue City and Huong Thuy and Huong Tra towns and the districts of Phu Vang, Phu Loc and Nam Dong and Phu Bai Industrial Park.
Around 100 engineers and workers have been assigned to operate the plant during the Tet Lunar New Year.
Most of the waste processing, waste management, emission control, power generation and and other stages are automated
Electronic display boards showing the results of air emissions, environmental monitoring, and water quality are placed outside the plant for the public and local authorities to monitor.
The dormitory area designed for experts, engineers and workers is located within the factory premises.
