Many travel firms in the southern central province of Khanh Hoa have opened tours to Hon Ba Mountain, which is home to the house of Swiss-French doctor and bacteriologist Alexandre Emile Jean Yersin.

Nguyen Phi Hong Nguyen, director of Vietpromotion Service and Travel Company Ltd. and deputy head of the Khanh Hoa Travel Association, said that the association has co-operated with travel firms to organise tours to Hon Ba Mountain on the occasion of the on-going Nha Trang Sea Festival.

The tours will allow travellers to explore the mountain and visit the house of Swiss-French Doctor Yersin who discovered the bacterium that caused bubonic plague. The house, which was also his workplace, was built in 1914. Located at an altitude of 1,578 metres, the wooden house consists of two floors.

Travellers will also be taken to visit Dr Yersin's grave, explore Suoi Dau livestock farm, and Linh Son Phap A Pagoda where they were closely associated with the doctor.

A representative from Tay Thai Binh Duong Tourism Joint Stock Company said that the firm is launching a bus tour to Hon Ba Mountain from June 14.

At the peak of the mountain, guests can check-in at Kong Forest Adventure Park, swim in streams or experience additional adventure tourism products such as forest ziplining and waterfall kayaking.

Hon Ba has a cool climate year-round, with average temperatures ranging from 17 to 20 degrees centigrade.
