98 people killed in traffic accidents during four-day holiday

A total of 125 traffic accidents occurred across the country, claiming 98 lives and leaving 90 injured during the four-day holiday from April 29 to May 2, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.

All the accidents occurred on roads in which two serious incidents in the southern province of Dong Thap and the northern province of Bac Ninh killed seven people and injured one other.

An accident involving two motorbikes in Dong Thap Province on Sunday evening claimed four lives and injured one other.

A 32-year-old man and his two children, aged 11 and 9, were all killed after their motorbike collided with a taxi in Bac Ninh Province on Monday evening.

The last day of the holiday, May 2, saw the highest number of traffic accidents with 43 incidents killing 51 people and injuring 13 others.

According to the committee, the figures represented a slight decrease from the same period last year with a 27 fall in number of accidents, drop of 13 in number of fatalities and 48 in number of injuries.
