Donations from DTiNews’ readers have poured to help a little boy suffering from a rare and painful skin disease.

Duy Phuoc’s condition seems to have improved and the family has received over VND150 million ($7,715) in donations.

Phuoc suffers from a disease known as Epidermolysis Bullosa. His body is constantly suffering from wounds and pain as his family struggles to afford his medicine.

“Thanks to the help of many compassionate readers, we have been introduced to effective medicines for Phuoc. Now, he does not have to suffer from pain as much as he used to,” rejoiced Dang Van Rau, Phuoc’s grandfather.

When a DTiNews reporter returned to visit Phuoc, he was sleeping very soundly. Blisters on his body were far fewer than the last time when we came to see him. Rau shared with us that Phuoc’s heath was getting better and many readers gave or recommended many kinds of good medicine for Phuoc.

Many patches of skin on his body had formed blisters that had broken. With the new medication, the broken blisters now have become dry and have cured very quickly. Phuoc now feels less pain. He can play with toys or go to the toilet himself.

However, Phuoc’s family is concerned because they do not know how long the medicine will work. They all wish that they could find the right doctor and medicine to help Phuoc’s health normalise so he can live a regular life just as his friends do.

After Phuoc’s story was reported by DTiNews, many readers called or visited Phuoc’s home and gave some donations. Many could not help crying when they saw Phuoc’s wound and pains. They said they would come and see Phuoc every month to give him milk and money.

Nguyen Phuoc Sanh, Phuoc’s father, estimated that his family had received about VND150 million ($7,715) from DTiNews’ readers so far.

Rau feels very touched with the help from readers and said, “I would like to express our sincere thanks on behalf of my whole family to all the compassionate readers who care and have helped my grandson. I cannot find words to express our gratitude to them.”
