Hanoi will organise the largest-ever open dragon boat racing competition at West Lake as part of activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954).
This morning, October 7, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held a press conference regarding the competition.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy director of the Hanoi Department for Culture and Sports, Pham Xuan Tai, said that the event, scheduled for October 13, is expected to attract 48 teams, including seven international teams and eight from embassies and international organisations in Vietnam, as well as teams from Hanoi and other regions across the country.
Around 800 coaches and athletes from 40 foreign countries and territories and organisations have registered for the competition.
The 5th dragon boat racing tournament aims to promote Hanoi's culture and tourism. This is the largest event of its kind ever to be held in Hanoi.
