According to Vu Xuan Vien, deputy director of Dien Bien Irrigation Management Ltd. Co., the firm is currently responsible for operating 13 irrigation reservoirs.

The current water capacity of local irrigation reservoirs is 12 percent higher than the same period of last year due to the early arrival of the rainy season, but reached just over 57 percent of their design capacity.

Hong Sat in Sam Mun Commune irrigates over 120 hectares of rice fields in the area. Its current water capacity is some 1 million cubic metres compared to the designed 2.2 million cubic metres.

Pe Luong Reservoir in Thanh Luong Commune has reached over 75 percent of its designed water capacity of 2.2 million cubic metres. It provides water for more than 250 hectares of rice and crops.

The same situation is reported in some other reservoirs, including Hong Sat in Sam Mun Commune.
