According to the ministry's report, 4,147 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 43 localities including HCM City (1,730), Binh Duong (840), Dong Nai (589), An Giang (186), Tay Ninh (84), Long An (84), Kien Giang (83). There were three imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of 209 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 1,986 infections found in the community.
As of Thursday evening, 822,238 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (405,184), Binh Duong (219,652), Dong Nai (53,140), Long An (33,099), and Tien Giang (14,359). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 826,837. The country now stands 43rd among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 7, an additional 1,402 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 758,488.
On Thursday evening, a further 125 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 20,223. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (92), Binh Duong (19), Ninh Thuan (5), Dong Nai (3), Can Tho (2), Ben Tre (1), Tien Giang (1), Dak Nong (1), and Long An (1).
The country has so far conducted over 49.25 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 12.80 million people having received two doses.
