SEA Games 31 opens with fireworks

The deputy prime minister asked the Hanoi People’s Committee to work with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and concerned agencies to organise the event.

SEA Games 31 is scheduled to be held in Hanoi on May 12-23, featuring 40 sports.

The events will take place in Hanoi and nearby Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, Hai Phong, Phu Tho, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, and Vinh Phuc.

The opening ceremony of SEA Games 31 at My Dinh National Stadium will last for around 120 minutes. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will speak at the ceremony.

Vietnam’s delegation includes 1,341, athletes, coaches, doctors and specialists.

Vietnam has the largest delegation, followed by Thailand with 870 members, Malaysia and the Philippines, with around 650 each.
