Models Chau Doan Thanh Truc, Nguyen Do Bac Linh and Kim Dung have been denied permission to participate in international beauty contests.
It was reported that Nguyen Do Bac Linh had received an invitation to the 2010 Miss Bikini International contest in China from May 14 to June 1, Chau Doan Thanh Truc was invited to the 2010 Miss Beauty of the World contest in China from April 26 to May 11, and Kim Dung was asked to participate in the 2010 Miss Tourism Intercontinental in Malaysia from May 6 to May 21. There has been speculation that these models are making preparations for their trips. However, the Vietnam Department of Performing Arts (DPA) negated this information.
Speaking to a DTiNews reporter, Mr. Pham Dinh Thang, the Head of DPA's Music Performance and Stage Tapes Management said that the department has rejected the two applications from Nguyen Do Bac Linh and Kim Dung to participate in the above-mentioned beauty contests due to the fact that neither of these models has ever won any title nationally, therefore cannot represent Vietnam internationally.
Kim Dung had previously won a Bronze medal in the 2009 Vietnam Supermodel contest, however it was only a modeling contest and she is still considered unqualified for beauty contests.
Thanh Long, Managing Director of the PL Model Company revealed, "Bac Linh and Kim Dung were invited by the contest organisers over a month ago and we were to ask for the department's permission on this, which we had already done. However, we received the rejection notice about 10 days ago. According to the department, these models do not have the appropriate titles to take part in these international beauty contests. Following the decision, we informed them immediately."
Chau Doan Thanh Truc was a Gold medal winner at the 2010 Supermodel Star contest and it has been reported that she is currently in China for the 2010 Miss Beauty of the World contest. It is a decision that was made solely by herself, without the department's or the PL Company's license. Thanh Truc will have to take full responsibility for whatever happens in this contest.
Nguyen Do Bac Linh, Bronze medalist of the 2010 Supermodel Star expressed her disappointment to DTiNews, "On the morning of May 3, I was informed that I will not be permitted to take part in the Miss Bikini International. I am very sad, because all my best efforts that I had put into training for this contest are going to be a waste now. If the department doesn't allow me to go, I will not go. I believe everything has to be done properly. This has reminded me of what happened to Huynh Thanh Tuyen last year. Neither of us seem to have one bit of luck with this contest."
Bac Linh added that while waiting for permission from the department, she and other candidates still had to do full training and practice in preparation for the contest. She did not expect the department to reject her request to participate in the beauty contest. Despite this loss of opportunity, Bac Linh said that she would try her luck in one of the national beauty contests this year. Kim Dung also expressed her disappointment, and said that even if she had the permission to go, she still wouldn't be able to due to some personal reasons.
