Vu Hoang Diep, who won Miss International Beauty 2009, has announced that she’d sashay off the catwalk if she got married because she would not want to sacrifice her family in the scandalous and often unpleasant world of showbiz.

She said that she had experienced a very stressful time and sympathised with fellow model Vu Thu Phuong who had also recently announced her retirement to spend more time with her family. Some sources said that Phuong’s early retirement had been triggered by weariness over the scandals that plague the Vietnamese fashion and entertainment industry.
“I still love the art very much and have tried to overcome the pressures to continue my passion. I could only abandon the job if I was married. I would want to spend more time on my family and children in that situation,” Diep shared.
According to Diep, up to 90% of models have considered leaving the profession. However, individually they found ways of dealing with the strains of their work.
Diep is currently still single after the break up with her previous boyfriend a year ago. While Diep admits she’s not short of admirers, she said it is not easy to find a partner who really understands her, and her chosen career.
She is now facing criticism for some recent photos which showed her wearing skimpy underwear. Diep was surprised by the reaction, explaining that she had not intended to offend anyone.
"The photoshoot honoured a woman’s body," she claimed. Diep said she just wanted to show off her legs which were insured with USD50,000.
"I insured my legs for USD50,000 as a way of valuing my youth and attractiveness,” Diep said. She also apologised for the photos, claiming she hadn’t thought they were originally too sexy for public taste.
