Following recommendations from Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and Bamboo Airways, additional night flights will operate daily from midnight to 11:59 pm between January 14 and February 12 next year at Tho Xuan, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai, Phu Cat, Pleiku, and Tuy Hoa airports.
The CAAV has asked the Vietnam Airports Corporation and the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to work closely with the airlines and airports to implement the night flight plan.
The CAAV decided to increase the frequency of aircraft takeoffs and landings at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday. Specifically, from 6 am to 11.55 pm, the number of flights per hour will rise from 42 to 46, while from midnight to 5.55 am, the frequency will increase to 42 flights per hour compared to 32 currently.
Many airlines have added aircraft to their fleets to meet Tet demand.
CAAV will also monitor seat bookings and airfares on domestic routes to instruct airlines to raise capacity on high-demand routes, ensuring passengers ‘demand during the peak Tet period.
As the Tet Lunar New Year, Vietnam’s biggest holiday is just nearly three months away, airfares have sharply risen on some routes.
A return flight ticket from HCM City to Hanoi for the 2025 Tet Lunar New Year holiday, which lasts from January 25 to February 2, costs between VND6.8-7.3 million. These are double normal prices and up by nine percent compared to those of the same period last year.
On the HCM City- Quy Nhon route, the lowest prices will be VND 5.5 million on flights operated by Vietjet Air, Vietravel Airlines, and Bamboo Airways while Vietnam Airlines tickets cost up to VND10 million.
The lowest Vietjet Air flights tickets on the HCM City-Thanh Hoa route cost VND7.3 million while the rate is VND10 million on Vietnam Airlines flights.
To meet the rising travel demand during the holiday, local airlines have already launched the sale of holiday tickets, with Vietnam Airlines Group offering nearly 1.5 million seats and Vietjet 2.6 million seats available.
