President Luong Cuong pays pre-Lunar New Year visit to armed forces in Phu Quoc island city of southern Kien Giang province.

In recent years, the armed forces stationed in Phu Quoc have consistently maintained readiness for combat, playing a crucial role in safeguarding political security, social order, and the country’s maritime sovereignty. They actively cooperate in preventing and combating various crimes, and joining search and rescue missions at sea.

The forces have been at the forefront of raising awareness about maritime sovereignty, helping the people understand Vietnam’s maritime claims, policies, and the importance of economic activities tied to protecting sovereignty. They protect economic activities at sea, prevent illegal fishing, and perform search and rescue operations in distant sea areas. Moreover, they actively engage in defense diplomacy, building a peaceful, stable maritime region.

President Luong Cuong praised the achievements of the forces, which have united to overcome challenges and fulfill their duties over the past year. He pointed out that 2025 is a particularly significant year for Vietnam, filled with major political events. It marks the time for the country to step up efforts, aiming to achieve the goals outlined by the 13th National Congress to drive Vietnam into a new era of national advancement.

In this context, Cuong emphasized, the armed forces must implement the Party’s Resolution 44, focusing on strategies to protect the nation in the current situation. They should remain vigilant, understand the tactics of adversaries and be proactive in addressing emerging issues.

It is essential to decisively and carefully defend maritime sovereignty and to stay alert to complex situations at sea, he reminded.

The President called on the forces to work closely with local authorities and to ensure the protection of maritime territories, economic activities at sea, and to prevent illegal fishing. They should play a leading role in national defense and security, combining military and civilian efforts in ensuring stability and peace.

Cuong emphasized the importance of enhancing defense diplomacy to contribute to maintaining peace and stability at sea.

Continued efforts should be made to propose strategies to the Party and government for resolving issues in Vietnam’s southwestern maritime region, he suggested.

The head of the State also stressed the need to build strong Party organizations, strengthen political and ideological foundations, ethics, and leadership capabilities.

In the leadup to the Lunar New Year 2025, President Luong Cuong conveyed his best wishes for a peaceful and prosperous new year to the officers, soldiers, and their families, encouraging them to continue working hard in defending the nation and contributing to the development of Vietnam.
