An overview of the Phung Khoang Park project.
Initiated in 2016, with its anticipated completion in 2017, Phung Khoang Park was expected to become a daily destination for relaxation and exercise.
However, the park still needs to be completed due to persistent delays.
The project was put in focus at a Wednesday meeting when the municipal people's committee decided to set up a steering board headed by Chairman Tran Sy Thanh to prevent wastefulness.
According to a report by Hanoi's Construction Department Director Vo Nguyen Phong, the project spans nearly 12 hectares in Nam Tu Liem and Thanh Xuan districts and is currently seven years behind schedule. Many facilities have already deteriorated and become overgrown with grass.
"Fifteen works have been completed so far, eight being carried out and six others still waiting for site clearance of some 10,000 square metres," Phong said.
Speaking at the meeting, Hanoi chairman Tran Sy Thanh shared that in 2023, the city was successful in resolving the problems at two other parks, the Hanoi Astronomy and Cay Dan parks, which were also carried out by the same investor as Phung Khoang Park.
"Those two parks have been put into use, and now we also need to be determined in resolving the problems at the Phung Khoang Park project," he said. "Nam Tu Liem and Thanh Xuan districts must complete the land allocation for the Phung Khoang Lake construction project by December 15 so that the project can be finished by the Lunar New Year 2025."
